Every swing tells a story. Every putt helps write a new chapter in a young person's future.

On July 27, supporters from across the region will gather at Norbeck Country Club in Rockville, Maryland, for the East Coast Chapter Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.'s 35th Annual General Benjamin O. Davis Jr. Golf Classic. More than a day on the links, the tournament is one of ECCTAI's premier fundraisers, helping preserve history while investing in tomorrow's aviation leaders.

Here are five reasons to be part of this year's event:

1. Your Participation Helps Future Pilots Take Flight. The Golf Classic directly supports ECCTAI's Herbert H. Jones Jr. Youth in Aviation Program and scholarship initiatives. The chapter invests more than $100,000 annually in programs that expose youth to aviation, aerospace and STEM careers.

2. You Help Preserve the Legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen. By supporting the Golf Classic, participants help ensure Tuskegee Airmen's stories, achievements and values continue to inspire future generations.

Please join ECCTAI in support of our Educational Scholarships and Youth In Aviation Program at the 34th Annual General Benjamin O. Davis, Jr. Golf Classic. Each year, our chapter provides $15,000 in scholarships to college students in need of tuition assistance, as well as over $20,000 toward aviation classes in an effort to motivate our next generation of aviation pioneers.

The 99^th Fighter Squadron, the most recognized unit, was the first Tuskegee Airmen unit to deploy to North Africa and Italy during World War II.

The 618^th Bombardment Squadron was the squadron of William Broadwater, one of the founders of the Gen B. O. Davis, Jr. Golf Classic. It was one of four squadrons in the 477^th Bombardment Group.

The 332^nd Fighter Group was the lead organization for Tuskegee Airmen units deployed during World War II. It led four fighter squadrons and was commanded by then Lt Col Benjamin O. Davis, Jr.

____ $2,500 477^th Bombardment Group Lunch Sponsor (Multiple)

The 477^th Bombardment Group, comprised of four squadrons, trained to fly the B-25 in the war against Japan. World War II ended before they deployed. Members of this organization led the famous “Freeman Field Mutiny.”
